Love and Sympathy to family. Jo Ann will be forever missed. We became wonderful friends via our shared passions for community and SLOA animal welfare advocacy . The years were filled with lengthy discussions on how to address variety topics. Of course, much laughter as we grew closer. Several daily long phone chats will now be a treasured part of beautiful Memory Lane. City and County officials will miss us. I can hear our shared laughs now. Lol What a perfect team we made in presentations, Live or zoom meetings, phone calls and endless emails. Whew. Jo Ann is not replaceable, she was the best. I'm grateful our lives brought us together.

I never had a chance to meet jo Ann, but through Ashlee's stories over teh past few years, I feel like I caught glimpses of a remarkable and strong woman. Someone wtih a big spirit and the ability to turn everyday moments into something special. Some of teh stories had me laughing out loud... others had my moth fall open in desbelief. Listening to Ashlee talk about her mom has me believing Jo Ann was one of those rare people that carry a lightness in them lifting all those around them. I can only imagine the joy and laughter being shared as her life is celebrated. may those happy memories bring peace and comfort to the family.

JoAnn and I met over our horses, Socks and Rio and Dylan back in 1996 or '97 when she moved Socks to our boarding barn in west Savannah. The very first day that Socks arrived and was settling in he was turned out into the pasture where new horses were kept for a few days' adjustment and the bullies couldn't bother him. That first early evening Socks was nowhere to be found when it was time to bring in the horses for the night. JoAnn and I yelled his name, we called, we clapped, we searched....no Socks, and our panic became real. How could he have escaped a securely fenced pasture? Did he get out with that heavy I-16 traffic nearby? She and I had the worst- scenario thoughts but finally, after what was an hour of searching, here Socks came, bounding out of the woods at the end of the pasture, all full of himself and no worse for wear. We never figured out where he'd gone. Socks was not a young horse and his sight was poor but he must have had a big time exploring until it was too dark to see and his hunger had set in. JoAnn and I hugged and cheered and probably gave him a good-nautured fussing for having gone on a solo adventure and scaring us into the next week. And I will never forget how JoAnn stood at my side on that sad July morning when I had to have Rio humanely euthanized due to old age complications. That's what friends do. JoAnn was good people, honest and loyal, the kind we need more of in this world. An advocate for all animals...May she rest in the arms of the angels.

Joanne was a very dear friend to me. We rarely got to see each other but when we did, it was just wonderful. She always hyped me up and told me how proud of me she was. Those words are sacred to me. Maybe it was just on fb, most of the time, it was still important and I loved her. Thank you for being part of my life.
